About Walt
Called by many "The best in the biz" Walt Ostarly (New Orleans Native) began his photography in the military, Photo Intelligence for the Navy's Special Forces. His passion for photography grew and has taken many faces since then: EXTREME SPORTS, SWIMSUIT, FITNESS, LIFESTYLE, EDITORIAL as well as ART.
People call me lucky, and luck is a wonderful attribute. But it's much more - it's a sense somehow. It's unexplainable and all the preparation in the world can't create this, it just happens. It's a feeling you just act on in that moment. When it comes to photography I always feel "It's not where I've been but where I'm about to go, that makes all the difference in the world". When Walter Ostarly entered the Navy Special Forces (Special Boat Unit 20), Little Creek, Virginia, he couldn't have imagined that the photo intelligence training he received would have made him the well known photographer he is today. A decade has passed, and now Walt Ostarly has his sights on new horizons, Sports Illustrated magazine.
